BAHRIA UNIVERSITY HOLDS 11th CONVOCATION – 12 April 2014

The eleventh Convocation of the Bahria University Islamabad was held on April 12th, 2014 at the Jinnah Convention Center Islamabad, at 10 a.m. to commemorate the academic accomplishments of its students. Students were honored with gold and Silver medals for their outstanding achievements in their academic career at the Convocation. Pro-Chancellor of Bahria University, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila NI(M) graced the occasion with his presence and conferred degrees on the graduating students of Masters and Undergraduate programs.
In total 430 students were awarded degrees. The Pro-Chancellor of Bahria University, Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila NI(M) along with the Rector of Bahria University, Vice Admiral® Shahid Iqbal HI (M) awarded 15 Gold medals and 13 Silver medals to various students who achieved top positions in their respective programs.
Muhammad Timur Ali, Hira Idrees Of Management Sciences Department, Ghina Mehr of (BSS) Humanities And Social Sciences Department, Sana Qamber of Computer Sciences Department, Sabah Malik, Haris javaid, Ameer Hasan Zia, Saba Ghazanfar, Zaheer ud din Babar, Sidra Batool of Earth And Environmental Sciences Department, Urooj Rafiq, Muhammad Jameel of Software Engineering Department, and Shahar Arshad Mphil(MS) and Muhammad Kashif MS (T&NW) received Gold Medals.
Scoring Silver Medals students were Mehreen Kamal, Saba Abid from Management Sciences Department, Maha Qasim of (BSS) Humanities & Social Sciences Department, Amna Waheed Awan of Computer Sciences Department, Ehtisham Abdul Rehman, Tashfeen Muhammad Hammad ud Din, Hasan Munir, Sarmad Hassan Sharif, Yawar Abbas of Earth And Environmental Sciences Department, Anum Kaleem, Saddaf rashid of Software Engineering Department and zubair Hassan Shahid (Mphil(MS)) and Annum Ayaz of MS(T&NW).
While speaking to the students at the occasion, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila NI(M) congratulated the students and their parents on their splendid success and appreciated the role of the university.
He said that Bahria University has incorporated in its system extra educational measures to promote multi-faceted education. He urged the academia to come forward with strong commitment to contribute in the nation-building process, as the nation is set to embark on strengthening state institutions.
He also shed light on the important role of faculty of the university which has to be conscious of the fact that they are preparing our youth who are required to steer this nation out of the present crises which is multi-faceted and complex.
The Pro-Chancellor congratulated Rector Vice Admiral® Shahid Iqbal HI (M) and assured fullest cooperation and support for the development of the University. He said that the accelerated pace of development which the university management has embarked upon would soon make Bahria University one of the leading university.

Earlier in his welcome address the Vice Admiral® Shahid Iqbal HI (M) expressed his gratitude to the Pro-Chancellor Bahria University and Chief of the Naval Staff for his presence in the convocation. He said that Higher Education is now considered and accepted as tool of economic growth, the world over. The universities have great responsibility of producing quality graduates who could contribute positively to enhance the research culture in the Country.
The Rector congratulated the students and their parents, wishing them a prosperous future and also admired the students who achieved medals for the outstanding performance.
The Rector briefly gave an overview about academic infrastructure, faculty development, and revision of curriculum and introduction of additional academic discipline in sync with market trends. He also talked about the completion of 1st MBBS Batch of Bahria University Medical & Dental College, establishment of new Lahore Campus of BU, and Girls’ Hostel at Islamabad Campus. Bahria University has established linkages with twenty eight foreign universities, he added.
The Convocation formally ended with a vote of thanks.
